Foxton were on the road again on Saturday, with a fixture against Soham Town Reserves, and picked up a hard fought 1-0 victory, courtesy of an Ed Watson penalty.
The first half was a fairly even affair, with both sides having good spells. Although, Foxton had the better chances, Stuart had a couple of strong headers from set pieces, one saved by the keeper and one, off target.
Dave Anthony latched on to a defensive error, but his lobbed effort came back off the cross bar. The home side found themselves in some good positions on a few occasions but fortunately for Foxton, they were wasteful with the final pass.
The second half was much the same, fairly even for long periods, without much end product. Soham then introduced plenty of fresh legs and pace and had a dominant spell of 10/15 mins. But again, were wasteful when on the attack. Their best chance was a one on one, which went wide of the post.
Will, in the Foxton goal, also made a brilliant low save, when the Soham forward’s shot looked goal bound.
Foxton broke the deadlock on about 75 mins when Ed converted from the spot, after Dave had his ankles clipped in the box.
Soham pushed hard for an equaliser, but Foxton managed to get to the end with a clean sheet.
