Match Report –Newmarket vs Foxton – League – 09.09.23

September 10, 2023

Foxton’s winning streak came to an end on Saturday, with a new look Newmarket Reserve side, coasting to a comfortable 4-1 win.

In all honesty, Foxton were outplayed and out worked, in the relentless heat.

Newmarket took an early lead with a sublime finish from the edge of the box. Foxton couldn’t get going and too often gave away possession, something the home side didn’t do that often.

They doubled their lead mid-way through the half, with another good finish.

Just before half time, Luca missed a golden opportunity to pull one back, but his shot was blocked. This proved to be a killer blow, as Newmarket went straight up the other end to make it 3-0.

The second half was much the same as the first, with the home team taking charge.

On about 60 mins it was 4-0, they also could’ve had a couple more.

Foxton grabbed a late consolation when Jake Williams scored from the spot.

Overall, we were beaten by the far better side.
