Match Report – Great Shelford vs. Foxton– League Cup – 30.11.2024

December 1, 2024

Foxton crashed out of the league cup on Saturday, after a 3-0 defeat away at Gt Shelford.

Both teams started fairly evenly, with neither really staking much of a claim to be the dominant force, so, a fairly even 25/30 mins prevailed, with Shelford having a couple of shots go wide and George pulling one wide for Foxton.

Shelford broke the deadlock just on the half hour mark, with a deft header, after a cross from the right flank.

This goal sparked the home team into life, and they then went on to dominate the remainder of the half, where they scored a further two goals without reply.

The second half wasn’t much better for Foxton, with Shelford pretty much playing within themselves and handling all Foxton had to throw at them, the truth being told, this wasn’t exactly very much, as we just couldn’t seem to string anything together. Liam did have one chance, after a move on the left caused a bit of mayhem in the box, but his shot went way wide.

Shelford seemed to play pretty much on the counter in second half and always looked dangerous, with Foxton committing bodies forward, Louis made a couple of good saves and El’s & Finn made a couple of good blocks to keep Shelford out.
