Foxton came away from Shelford on the wrong end of a 2-0 scoreline, in a fairly close game.
Foxton started well and had the better of the opening stages of play, but it was Shelford who had the first couple of openings, which were both screwed wide from dangerous positions.
Although probably on top, we just lacked that final bit of quality to open up the home back line. Which, on the half hour mark, came back to bite us when Shelford scored pretty much directly from a corner, at the near post.
With their tails up, they then went on to finish the half strongly.
HT 1-0
The second half was a similar story, with Foxton again looking the stronger side but again, couldn’t find the end product.
Shelford were then awarded a penalty, when Jez was adjudged to have fouled a Shelford player.
The penalty was tucked away low to the keeper’s right side.
Now 2 goals ahead, they again had a decent spell and nearly scored again, when a shot from the edge of the box cannoned back off the cross bar.
For all of Foxton’s huff and puff, Shelford ran the clock down well and picked up 2-0 victory in their quest for the title.
