Foxton picked up 3 points on Saturday at home, in an entertaining game against Wisbech St Mary.
After a lively opening, Foxton took the lead when Alfie perfectly lobbed the visiting keeper from 30 yards out.
This goal rallied the visitors, and Louis made a good save moments later. This was followed up with an effort that crashed against the cross bar.
The next 15 minutes was an open affair, with both teams looking dangerous when on the attack.
Wisbech also had penalty appeal waved away.
Foxton doubled the lead on 30 minutes, when Liam nicked possession and played a perfectly weighted pass between the lines, for debutant Charlie Noakes, who picked out Alfie, for him to score his and Foxton’s second of the game, with a glancing header that evaded the keeper.
Wisbech again pulled together and pulled a goal back soon after, with a good, finished effort, after they nicked possession and broke well.
HT 2-1.
The second half didn’t start well for Foxton, when the visitors drew level on 50 minutes after a close-range finish from another good attack.
This time Foxton had to dig in and weather a small storm, which they did with El’s and Finn marshalling the back line well.
The game now became a little frantic and open, with both teams seeming edgy.
Wisbech had a good chance from a close-range header, which Louis somehow, managed to keep out with an excellent save.
Foxton then took the lead, when Liam’s corner glanced of the head of El’s and fell nicely to Finn at the back post, who smashed the ball into the top of the net, to grab his first Foxton goal.
Wisbech are a big strong side, so a backs-to- the-wall last 15 minutes was expected but we defended that barrage brilliantly.
Foxton then had two glorious chances to kill the game, but on both occasions the Wisbech keeper made good saves, the first, after a close- range effort from Jack Martin and the second from Alfie, which also denied him his hat-trick.
We managed to see the game out and pick up 3 hard fought points.
