Foxton progressed to the next round of the Challenge Cup, after a 3-1 home win against Sawston Rovers.
Foxton took an early lead when Alfie scored from close range, after a good move down the left and a good cross across the box from Jack D.
After the positive start things didn’t go great for Foxton, with Dusi having to go to hospital after a nasty fall on his arm, which resulted in a dislocated elbow, (later found out that it’s also fractured) and a determined Sawston side holding their own. They equalised from the spot on about 20 mins and should’ve taken the lead on about 25 minutes, after Frank under hit a back pass, which put their striker through one on one, luckily, Pinney made a decent save to keep it out.
Foxton did better in the second half and were more in control through the half. On 50 minutes, they were awarded a penalty, after Jack D was fouled by the Sawston keeper, Jake Williams took the kick, but had it saved by the keeper’s legs.
10 minutes later, we were awarded another penalty after a hand ball in the box, this time Williams made no mistake and sent the keeper the wrong way.
Sawston kept going and stayed in the game with some good defending and high effort. On about 70 minutes, they had a chance to equalise after a good break, but the forwards effort went wide of the goal.
Foxton killed the game off on 80 minutes, when Elliott Knight scored from close range, after a bit of ping pong in the Sawston box from a corner kick.
