Foxton kicked off 2025 with a home fixture, which was being played at Bottisham VC on the 3G to get the game on and picked up deserved 4-0 victory against Hemingford.
Foxton started on the front foot and took an early lead in the 6th minute, when Alfie bent a 25-yard free kick into the top corner.
Foxton controlled the early stages and nearly doubled their lead on 20 minutes, when Jake had a header cleared off the line from Liam’s corner. However, the second goal came soon after this, when George’s throw found Jake, who cleverly rolled his marker and smashed the ball past the keeper from close range.
Hemingford then had a decent attack, which resulted in Louis making a good low save at his near post.
Still in control, Foxton attacked again and good ball from George into Jake, who turned well and played Alfie through one on one, but he curled the chance just past the post. The third goal followed soon after, when a sharp one two, again between Alfie and Jake, resulted in Alfie going through and this time he made no mistake and scored cooly past the Hemingford keeper.
HT 3-0
The second half got underway, and Foxton had an early chance from another Liam corner, but Stuart’s header went just over the bar.
Hemingford, who had clearly had a few words at half time and looked a bit more energetic, then had good move down the right with a cross into the box, which caused Louis a few problems. Although, he then made a good save from a close-range effort.
Foxton were far scrappier in the second half but did look dangerous when on the attack. One of these attacks resulted in the 4th goal. Jake flicked on a kick from Louis, which Alfie picked up, cruised inside his man and played a deft pass between the lines for Dave Anthony to latch onto, he took the ball in his stride, rounded the keeper and tapped the ball into an empty net.
The visitors were running out of steam and the introduction of more fresh legs in Joe, Toby and Owen, made things more difficult for them.
Toby was soon in the thick of the action with his hard-working attitude and composure on the ball. His efforts were nearly rewarded with a goal from 20 yards, when he picked up possession, ran past his marker and smashed a shot goal-wards which the keeper saved well. The rebound fell to Liam, but he could only drive the ball into the keepers legs and it then bounced to safety.
Foxton saw out the last few minutes and were good value for the win.
