Foxton crashed out of the Challenge Cup at the first hurdle on Saturday, losing 3-1 against Hardwick.
Hardwick raced into a two-goal lead, with a well worked goal on 10 mins and a top bins effort on 15 mins. Although Foxton were second best, they did create a decent number of chances but failed to convert any, with the away keeper proving difficult to beat. The visitors got a third goal on the half hour mark, when a ball in the box wasn’t dealt with and was prodded home from close range.
HT 0-3
Foxton started the second half on the front foot and scored in the first minute of the half when Liam got on the end of a squared pass in the box.
This was just what Foxton needed and gave them the momentum and raised energy levels.
We were no longer second to everything and were far more competitive.
Although probably on top in the second half, we couldn’t beat the very impressive away keeper, who saved everything that went near him and punched or caught every ball in the box.
The visitors had some chances late on in the half, but Louis made some good saves to keep them out.
The poor first half performance costing Foxton in the end, as the game finished 3-1 to Hardwick.
