Match Report – Foxton vs. Great Shelford – League –26.08.29.

August 27, 2025

Foxton were at home again on Tuesday night, against Great Shelford and came out on the wrong side of a 3-1 scoreline.

Foxton had an early chance in the first minute, when Luke had a shot just inside the box, but his effort went tamely wide of the goal.

Shelford soon got into their stride and started to dominate proceedings, which led to them taking the lead in the tenth minute, via a close-range header, after a cross from the right side.

Foxton were pretty much second best all over the park and Shelford doubled their lead on about 20 minutes, with a well taken goal from their lively left winger.

It stayed one way traffic, with the visitors still in control and winning all the duels all over the pitch.

It was 3-0 on about 30 minutes when a well hit shot beat Will high into the top corner, at his near post.

Foxton were still struggling to gain any momentum but did manage to pull a goal back before half time when Dave Anthony headed home Antwan’s corner.

HT 1-3

The second half got under way and Foxton seemed to have a bit more fight about them and finally started to compete. The away back line were forced into more action, but they defended well and kept Foxton out.

In all honesty, Foxton probably had the better of the second half but didn’t really threaten the Shelford goal. So unfortunately, it was too little too late after a poor first half.

Shelford saw the game out and picked up a deserved 3 points.
