Match Report – Foxton vs. Ely City Reserves – League – 29.03.2025

April 6, 2025

After two weeks off, Foxton were back in action with a home fixture against Ely Res.

Things didn’t go well for Foxton in the early stages of the first half, with the visitors on top but fortunately, they didn’t manage to create anything clear cut.

Foxton slowly started to get going and then began to have the upper hand, but like Ely, we didn’t really create anything of any significance.

We took the lead via an Ed Watson header, on about the half hour mark and got to half time 1 goal to the good.

The second half just didn’t happen for Foxton, as Ely were the dominant force throughout the half.

They equalised from a Foxton attack, after a couple of bad errors and an easy finish.

Soon after, they took a deserved lead, after a whipped in ball into the box wasn’t dealt with and was poked home from close range.

Foxton were really struggling to get back on top and stayed on the back foot for far too long. A third goal came from close range, after a possible handball wasn’t given in the Foxton box, with the ball falling nicely for the Ely player to score.

A fourth goal came soon after, another mistake gifted Ely a goal from close range.

All in all, a bad day at the office and a deserved victory for the visitors.
