Foxton picked up another 3 points on Saturday, after a 4-0 home win against local rivals Bassingbourn.
Foxton started on the front foot and Kaane broke free in our first attack, but his shot was saved by the keeper. Moments later, we took the lead when Jez scored from the edge of the box, after good play down the right side from Jordan.
Bassingbourn nearly pulled level straight away after good bit play on the counterattack, their forward found himself through one on one but Pinney saved well with his legs.
Foxton attacked again with Alfie playing in Jordan, who shot wide and then Bonny linked well with Jake who flashed the ball across the box - but nobody got on the end of it.
Bassingbourn slowly started to get up a head of steam and put the home back line under some pressure. They had plenty of ball in the box but couldn’t create the opening that their efforts may have deserved.
On 43 mins Foxton countered and the visiting keeper made an amazing save from Kaane’s close range effort. HT 1-0
The second half started well for Foxton, as they doubled their lead when Alfie picked up the ball, cut inside and curled the ball into the top corner 2-0.
Two soon became three, when substitute Jake Emmett scored with his first touch after Jake’s header across goal fell nicely on to his volley. 3-0
Bass nearly pulled one straight back from a set play, but their effort was cleared off the line by El’s. This spurred the visitors on, and they had another strong period in the game where they had Foxton on the back foot. A host of searching balls went into the box, without causing too much damage and a shot cannoned back off the post, Pinney also made full stretch diving save to keep them at bay.
Foxton scored their fourth goal at the end, when Emmett grabbed his second, this one from close range at the second time of asking, after his first shot was blocked. 4-0
