Foxton picked up 3 points on the road, to newly promoted Comberton on Saturday.
Foxton started sloppily and found themselves a goal down on 5 mins, when the home team scored, after some poor Foxton defending.
Foxton finally got going and drew level on 15 mins when El’s scored, after breaking free from Evers’s centre.
Foxton then went on to have a strong, dominant 20 minutes but failed to make it count, as the score remained 1-1.
The home team then had two chances in quick succession, but Louis saved well on both occasions.
HT 1-1
Foxton started the second half on the front foot and nearly took the lead from Alfie’s free kick, which cannoned back off the post, the rebound falling to Jack Martin, but he lost his footing, and the chance was gone.
Jack was in the action again soon after, when he was fouled in the box, to earn Foxton a penalty, which was coolly converted by Liam.
Finn nearly grabbed another goal moments later, when he had free header at the back post from Liam’s corner, but unfortunately, it went just past the post.
The home team didn’t lay down and kept plugging away, in what was now a fairly even game, with neither team creating any real open chances.
Heading into the last 15 mins, Comberton came on strong and had some good passages of play and balls across the box, but the Foxton back line and keeper, kept them at bay. When Louis did get beaten, Liam was on hand to head one off the line.
Foxton were now relying on some counter attacks but on each occasion, failed to take advantage of some good possible openings.
Foxton hung on and came away victorious.
