Foxton were on the road on Saturday at C.U.P and went goal crazy, earning the 3 points after a 7-1 victory.
The game got underway, and Foxton broke the deadlock on 4 minutes, when Sam’s deep free kick found El’s, who headed back across to Liam, and he made no mistake from close range.
On 10 mins, Alfie forced the home keeper to make a decent save, after he latched onto debutant Confidence Orewa’s pass, which had cut the defence open.
Press nearly equalised on 15 minutes, when Ada was forced to make a save from a good strike on the left edge of the box. This was followed up by a chance from the resulting corner, but a bullet header went wide of the post.
Foxton picked things up and earned control of the game, winning duels all over the park and looking lively on the attack. A second goal came on 25 minutes, when Jez powerfully headed home Liam’s corner.
Two minutes later, it was 3-0, when George won possession and sent Alfie away on goal. As composed as ever, Alfie made no mistake, with a neat finish across the keeper into the bottom corner.
Press were struggling to get a foothold into the game and didn’t have many answers to Foxton’s dominance.
Alfie then turned creator, when he got the ball on the halfway line, beat his man and played towards the lively Charlie Noakes, who grabbed his first goal for the club after earning himself some luck when he pressured the home defender, who then slipped, Charlie then beat the onrushing home keeper to the ball and rolled it into the net.
Just before half time it was 5-0, when Liam notched his second goal, Evers had won possession and picked out Liam, who shot early with a sublime lob over the home keeper, giving him no chance.
HT 0-5
The second half started poorly for Foxton, as Press pulled a goal back after 45 seconds with a neat finish, after Foxton looked to have lost concentration.
Press were thinking that a comeback could maybe be on the cards and rallied hard for the next 5/10 minutes but to no avail, with Foxtons defence coping well.
After weathering that storm, Foxton got back on track as the game levelled out.
On 70 minutes, we got a 6th goal, with Alfie again the provider, this time he had possession on the right and slipped Liam through to complete his hat-trick and he duly obliged, with a calm finish past the Press keeper.
Foxton had introduced some fresh legs, in Jock, Joe and Romario and the three slotted in nicely to help Foxton keep their momentum.
Press had a chance on 80 minutes, but a double save from Ada kept them at bay and then soon after, George made a good clearance, from what looked to be a goal bound effort.
Liam then got his 4th goal and Foxton’s 7th, on 89 minutes, when he latched onto another pass from Alfie, who again had worked wonders. Another calm finish from the “L-Dog”!
Alfie was then unlucky not to get his second goal of the game, when Joe had a strong run down the left and squared the ball across the box but unfortunately, just in front of Alfie’s outstretched leg.
Overall, Foxton were good value for this win and some of the boys have not received much of a mention, but their performances were outstanding and have not gone unnoticed.
