Foxton started their 25/26 campaign with a 2-0 home victory against Comberton.
In tale of two halves, it was Foxton who came out victorious after a strong first half, where they were pretty dominant. After plenty of attacking play, they finally took a deserved lead on about 25 minutes from the penalty spot, after Josh was fouled in the box. Ed made no mistake with a finish in the bottom corner.
Ten minutes, later the lead was doubled when Dave Anthony scored, after he latched onto Luke Eades pass round the corner.
Foxton stayed in control to the half time whistle but didn’t add to their tally.
HT2-0
The second half was a different story, as it was the visitors who started the stronger. They managed to keep Foxton well and truly on the back foot.
Foxtons new keeper Will Skingley, made a good save low to his left from a direct free kick, which was well struck.
Foxtons defence had to stay concentrated, as they were under a bombardment of pressure but to their credit, they did so brilliantly and managed to keep the visitors to efforts from distance, another of which, was brilliantly tipped past the post by Will, when it looked to be heading into the top corner.
Foxton really weren’t helping themselves by giving the ball away the ball too easily. However, credit to the visitors for non-stop endeavour.
On 75 minutes it looked like the game would be wrapped up after Foxton got another penalty, this time it was Sennan who got fouled in the box. But the away keeper saved Ed’s penalty with his legs.
Ed nearly made amends moments later when he and Luke linked well, but his shot was saved by the keeper.
The visitors had a flurry of late set plays, but Foxton’s defence managed to keep them at bay by dominating their box.
