Foxton were finally back at home on Saturday, after a run of away fixtures and picked up another 3 points, with a 3-0 victory over Milton.
Milton started well and in the first couple of minutes had two good attacks, which fortunately, came to nothing.
Conditions were hard for both sides, with the strong wind blowing across the pitch. However, a competitive half materialised, with not too much between the sides.
Alfie broke the deadlock on 30 minutes, when he latched onto a ball from Finn, played over the full back’s head. He ran down the line, beat a covering defender and slotted the ball past the visiting keeper.
The lead was soon doubled, when a cross from that man Alfie, again, was only half cleared into the path of Charlie, who skipped past a man and finished well from the edge of the box, into the bottom corner.
HT 2-0
Foxton started the second half better and pegged Milton back in the early stages, with more energy all over the pitch. Following some good pressing high up the field, Foxton got their third goal, when Alfie dispossessed a Milton player, who subsequently fouled him, for what looked a penalty. The referee thought differently and awarded a free kick just outside the box, on the left side. However, Alfie’s low driven cross was rammed home by Liam from close range.
Milton didn’t let up and kept plugging away in an attempt to get a goal back, but they didn’t manage to create anything of real substance. The closest they came, was when a cross from the right, was nearly diverted into the net by the outstretched leg of Finn, who had another impressive game. Louis made a good sharp reaction save, to keep the ball out.
Foxton had introduced some fresh legs, with all the boys soon in the thick of the action. Jack Martin was inches away from converting Romario’s cross, and some good breaks involving Jack, Liam, Alfie and Romario, all could’ve ended up with more chances, but it didn’t happen, or when it did happen, the efforts were off target.
